NGC 1068 constraints on neutrino-dark matter scattering

Abstract The IceCube collaboration has observed the first steady-state point source of high-energy neutrinos, coming from active galaxy NGC 1068. If neutrinos interacted strongly enough with dark matter, emitted would have been impeded by dense spike matter surrounding supermassive black hole at galactic center, which powers emission. We derive a stringent upper limit on scattering cross section between and based events theoretical models spike. bound can be stronger than that obtained single neutrino event blazar TXS 0506+056 for some models.
